GRASSROOTS 2024 HOLIDAY GIVING

GRASSROOTS – 2024 HOLIDAY GIVING - For many years, St. Matthew's has supported the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center (/www.grassrootscrisis.org) during its Holiday Drive.

Thank you so much to all who donated to the Grassroots Holiday Gift Card Drive. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to deliver a total of $2800 worth of gift cards to Grassroots today. They will be able to use these cards to support many families in need this holiday season. Glory to God!

The Howard County Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center:

• Is a multi-service center in Howard County providing 24-hour crisis intervention
• Is a walk-in counseling program and is the first point of contact for homeless services
• Operates a 33-bed emergency family shelter, an 18-bed men’s shelter and can house up to five families short-term in a motel shelter
• Serves three meals daily for up to 50 shelter residents

The Orthodox Church of St. Matthew has been supporting Grassroots in various capacities for many years:

• Items needed for donation are announced at Liturgy and in the Sunday Bulletin
• Grassroots compiles a Holiday Wish List every fall, and the parish decorates a “Giving Tree” with gifts from the list
